The Abduction of Christ.

New linoleum cut print. Got a few prints done just in the nick of time for Prints Gone Wild in New York a couple weeks ago.
9"x12" block on 11"x15" Lenox paper.

Have I mentioned that I love the show Ancient Aliens? It makes me feel smart. It also makes me LOL real hard.

Coat of Robotic Arms.

Oh hey. It's been awhile. How are you? I hope you're well.
ANYHOO, I've been real busy lately, but haven't really been able to show much on the internets. So I finished this today, one of the only small things I've been doing, and figured i'd upload it. you know, for funsies.

Here is the basic black and white version. I'm thinking of having a stamp made of it, to use on prints and stuff, but i'm not sure yet.

Also, my piece "Leap of Faith" was recently published in a journal called P.Q. Leer , so check it out bitches!

Horse. 77/183.

Okay this image SUCKS but my camera is like 8 years old and I was having trouble lighting it. Ill update with a better one in the future. It's gunna be at a show called "Zombies Attack Halloween Art Show" at the Koken Art Factory, and I hafto deliver it this weekend (after I get it framed BLEH) so I won't be able to reshoot it.
ANYHOO, its 16"x20", oodelally! Drawn entirely with 01 microns so all the details is hard to get in a picture. Meh.

it's not actually even a horse. omigosh!

The Humpback Anglerfish. 78/183.

pen drawing plus photoshop.

I'm having a bit of trouble getting my horse photographed (it's too big for meh scanner) so hopefully I can get that done properly in the next couple days.

Horned Lizard. 76/183.

'nother all digital one. I added the city cause I wanted to add some new billboards i made up but they were so small i had to make them real detailed....And didn't want to make the whole city the same level of detail. So yeah, billboards are below, but you can barely see them in the actually drawing.
Whatever.

W3rdup!

Hoatzin. 75/183.

Return of the animals!

First all digital painting i've done for the animal project, and maybe the first ALL digital painting i've done period. The only traditional drawing for it I did was for the basic pencil sketch (BELOW) which is not part of the final image but was just used as a jumping off point. yerp.

POW!

Jelly Doughnut.

Getting ready for Halloweeny!

6"x9" acrylic painting on hardboard.
Just so everyone knows, painting is way easier than drawing.
SUCK IT.

Shit was SO Cash.

So I dont know if you've heard of the Johnny Cash Project, but it's a music video being put together where each frame of the video is redrawn by different people. Anyway check out the website for more info cause I don't care to reiterate what they've already said.

But yeah I contributed.

This was the frame.

And this was the drawing I did.

I was bored. W3rd.

Fall Risk.

Having finished that illustration, I spent an entire day playing around with text and calligraphy and stuff. Thus...this!

It took a couple of hours to get all of these letters to look right together, and still I am not completely satisfied. However, they are all custom and not copied from anywhere. So there.

Boston College class portrait.

So my brother graduated from college in May, and as a graduation gift for him and his roommates, one if his roommate's parents commissioned me to do a portrait of all of them. This is part of the reason my animal posts have been somewhat sporadic.

Honestly, it took me way longer than it should have, but doing portraits is not the easiest thing, let alone doing nine of them. It's also fairly big at 12"x 16". So yeah, it's done and I'm happy.

Hedgehog. 73b/183.

SO I finished the above linework on saturday. Had some things happen over the past couple days so I didn't get a chance to work on the color for it.

Therefore I decided to overcompensate and spend too much time on the photoshop work. There is definitely more work I could have done but not without investing WAY too much time.
Oh well. It's cuter than the first one at least. ENJOY!

Oh, almost forgot, this is inspired by the Hedgehog's dilemma (as evident by the title). Which, if you don't feel like reading the wikipedia (which you should), is the (fictitious) problem of hedgehogs trying to share heat by being near one another, but can only be so close because of their quills. You know what, it's a lot to describe and I can't do it very well, just read that shit.

Also, i colored alot of this while watching the History Channel's "Ancient Aliens". That show makes me LOL real hard.

Hedgehog. 73a/183.

This is labelled A because I have a sketch for another that I am going to do also. Because i know a number of people will be upset that this isn't cute and hedgehogs are fucking adorable.

I don't think the foam on his mouth turned out as well as i had hoped. oh wells.

Hamster. 72/183.

FUCKING BRUTAL!

hamster skulls are hard to draw. I'm glad I decided to do so many of them.

also, I have a new design on threadless:
Baseball for Dummies. - Threadless T-shirts, Nude No More
give it some votes jah?

And don't forget the other one:
A Futile Journey. - Threadless T-shirts, Nude No More

THANKS turkeys.

Hammerhead Shark. 71/183.

So, I was trying to be more loose with my cross hatching, in that i just used it more for texture. Well I don't think it worked too hot, cause it just ended up looking like a shitty high school student's zine drawing, cause all the lines are too loosey goosey. Meh.

Also just drew the head...cause that's the most interesting part? Though I wish I had gone with this prep sketch I did, I kindof like it better.

Overall, kindof a fail.

However, hammerhead sharks are totally crazy. Besides their weirdo heads they are the only sharks to swim in schools and they have itty bitty mouths, compared to their bodies, and as Jun astutely observed, they basically have "Beaker mouths".
Layin' some knowledge on you dumb asses.

Also, don't forget to vote for my shit on threadless.

Tuesday, August 23, 2011

Hadrosaur. 70/183.

Surprise surprise, super old school cartoony.
Also took a lot of liberties with how this dinosaur actually looks.

Shading those fucking rings was the worst. So I kindof gave up after awhile.
Too much time to make it look right, but not enough benefit in doing that.
Oh well!

ALSO!
A Futile Journey. - Threadless T-shirts, Nude No More
DON'T FORGET!

A Futile Journey.

Yup. Submitted it to Threadless.
I'll post a link when it gets approved.

Black, white, and two shades of grey.

Great White Shark. 67/183.

Line work for a more complicated drawing. The rest will prolly be done by tomorrow? Saturday at the latest.

This is a reworking of one of the first woodcuts I did. Which I think shows I've gotten better in three years? Maybe? Hopefully?

...please?

Drawing is FUN!

Thursday, August 18, 2011

Goblin Shark. 65/183.

Pennekamp finally came through.

"Orcas are not sharks but Goblin sharks are. And they look gross.
Also, I heard they smoke weed err'day."

Everything that comes out of his mouth is gold.
So is everything that goes into it.
Like my penis.

My dick is gold.

Gorilla. 66/183.

Alright, well first of all, Mike Pennekamp is supposedly done with another guest drawing but I have yet to receive it, so I am going ahead and moving along and if I dont get in a few days I'll hafto go back and do it myself. Oh and also kill him. Definitely kill him.

Anyway I did the sketch for this before I realized that Jun had obviously done a Gorilla on a building as well and honestly did a better job than me. Oh well. Next time when I do so many parallel lines I should probably use a ruler instead of eyeballing it because the building just looks like SHIT.

Giddyup.

Goat. 64/183.

The Immortal AJ Lovell was over so I made him draw me a goat.

Gnu. 63/183.

A Gnu is another name for a Wildebeest.
I was going for a sortof sports logo type of deal on this, but I think it ended up looking too much like a fish. Meh.

Thursday, August 11, 2011

Giraffe. 62/183.

Needless to say this took quite awhile, hence the long delay. The next couple animals are going to be WAY less complicated.
I mean it this time.
Maybe.

Anyway when I came to the giraffe it reminded me that I used to draw giraffes alot so here are a couple I did about 5 years ago...Jesus that is a long time ago. To me, at least.
Hopefully I have gotten better over the years.
But probably not.
Oh well. Enjoy or don't, interneters.

Also...
apparently giraffes are only capable of facing stage left.
